In 1915, Canadian soldier John McCrae wrote a poem titled "In Flanders Fields." McCrae served in the Second Battle of Ypres in Flanders, Belgium. He wrote "In Flanders Fields" after a friend died in battle and was buried with a simple wooden cross as a marker. The poem described similar mass graveyards on the fields of Flanders, fields that were once alive with red poppies but were now filled with the corpses of dead soldiers.
The poem highlights the irony of war, where a soldier dies so that a nation of people lives.
Please take a moment to remember...those gone and those still serving today.
My father was in WW II - Queens Own Rifles....and my son in law still serves today.
Yes my crafty friends it is beginning to look alot like Christmas. Today I am sharing a card I made using Imagine Design Create inspirational quotes. And nothing better than believing in the magic of Christmas.
This card is several layers - Using this stamp I embossed with silver - layered onto coloured paper and added a bit of lace. The St. Nick I cut out from other paper I had, thought he went well with the saying. Come and check out the blog over at Imagine Design Create and see what others on the Design Team have shared.
Well my friends - at this point my blood type is Pumpkin spice !!! (can't wait for the eggnog lattes now) I made a couple of Halloween cards for a group I am in, and of course for October the theme is ...halloween of course !!
Did a Halloween ATC trade and this is what I came up with. The creepy hand was a gift from a friend - as she knows I like weird stuff ehhehehe...The stamp is from Stamp Oasis. So I embossed the stamp and fussy cut it out...Just luv fussy cuttin...not...but I like how it looks when done !! Anyway - tis my little bit of art... Thanks for Visiting....
So excited to be part of the design team at Gecko Galz !! Above image is from Gecko Galz - I lightly coloured her hat and dress then clear embossed several times. Layered everything else from my own stash....to create this 5 x 5 page. enjoy....
The challenge for our group was a fall card.....so this is what I came up with.
The background was from the shaving cream technique.....mmmmm....smells so good. And the saying is from Lynne Moncrieff's set of Lynne's Affirmations by Thats Crafty. The leaves I stamped then coloured in - fussy cut out - then clear embossed. So hoping this looks fall-ish.
Hi there my crafty friends - thanks for stopping by. Today I am sharing a gate fold card I made for a friends birthday. The image is covered with sugar beads (or micro beads) then layered for the center part. The background panels are done with some alcohol inks. Then some butterflies to finish it off.
I did a repeat of one of the sayings in Staz on black...luv those clear stamping blocks to be able to see for lining everything up LOL. BTW - this is all on a piece of balsa wood. Then I embossed the "inspire" stamp in the middle. So it shows the words coming through too which I thought was kinda cool.
Of course - off to the mailbox - Check out IDC blog for more !!
Hello Hello my crafty friends. Today I am sharing a card I made using Imagine Design Create stamps. Check out the blog at IDC too.... I absolutely LUV this saying !!! All done in pinks....I stamped the saying, from the Inspirationl Quotes set, onto creamy cardstock then embossed clear. Rubbing my distress ink on top to bring up the saying. Then embossed in silver a whole buncha small flowers from the Floral Fun set. And of course fussy cut them out.
Layered everything together - randomly gluing the flowers on.
Hi there my crafty friends - thanks for stopping by today. These two magnets I made using Imagine Design Create stamp set. Using Floral Fun and Inspirational Quotes. Well what a better place to inspiration then on the fridge door. (especially if you are at the fridge as often as I am heheheheee) The magnets are about 2 inches by 3 1/4 inches. Using spritzed distress ink on the background. Embossed the little curly cues. The sayings were embossed then cut out. Mount onto the magnet using glue dots - it sure popped them up. Check out the blog over at IDC for other great ideas.

Also going to be doing alot of purging this winter....decided it was time to recyle old magazines and aged out stamps and paper.
this first desk I just cleaned off - but look what I got !! A hat box to play with !!! I have a few ideas running through my head - but may take months to get to it (you know what I mean) - and my poor journal just sitting and waiting....
My real working area - DH has a special birthday coming up soon - so working on a tri shutter card for him....

Hi there - thanks for stopping by. This card I made using Imagine Design Create inspirational quote. And it just rings so true - don't sweat the small stuff - enjoy life - as you will never have this day again!! Make it count !!!! luv it..... Anyway - the yellow background was made using a wax paper technique. Then I layered on the die cut - not sure who made it as I borrowed it....the girl on the swing...enjoying her day !! not a care. Some glittery flowers and a butterfly to finish it off.
Good day - thanks for stopping by my blog. Today I am sharing a card I made for Imagine Design Create ! Using their Inspirational Quotes I have stamped with staz on black onto acetate. The card is about 3 1/2 x 5 inches. I Cut out the middle of the card leaving about 1 1/4 inch on both sides - placed the acetate saying to see through. On the edges I have used the Floral Fun Mini set - embossed with silver - then layered the edging. Using some ric-rac to match the paper.....and wowza ....finished it off nicely.
Well - I should be headed out to Moose Jaw, SK for the annual Saskatchewan Festival of Words ! Such a blast - Today I am sharing a tin I altered for my daughter from our trip to New Brunswick back in April. So there will be more pictures than I normally post...
Start with the tin...on the outside - covered with some old book pages - washi tape and nuance. (oops think this is upside down LOL)
I have printed a bunch of photos (on the left) to put inside the tin.
Had a hard time trying to chose which ones !! But all layered onto black cardstock too...
Outter edge...some rick rack goin' on....
Insides..about 20 pictures...
Then - the outside done - the photo on top I used UTEE and cracked it. Added some micro gold beads...
